University of the Free State (UFS)

Founded in 1904 as Grey University College in Bloemfontein, UFS became a full university in 1950. Originally an Afrikaans-medium institution, it now offers instruction in both English and Afrikaans. The university has undergone significant transformation since the end of apartheid, addressing issues of racial integration and institutional culture.
